Txtshare is a quick notepad used to take notes and then share text online through a unique and uneditable url. There are three main notepads, one for each operating system, which are Microsoft Notepad, TextEdit for macOS, and TXT for Chrome OS. Each has a long history of providing a simple and clean interface for users to store notes, text, and to save and share txt. However, they're all software notepads which means they can't be accessed via the web. Microsoft Notepad was initially release all the way back on 1985 in the launch of Windows 1.0. With each subsequent release of Windows software like Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11, Microsoft added new features but it's always been a very simple piece of software. TextEdit for macOS was released in 1999 with the release of OS X. The key difference vs Microsoft Notepad was the support for plain text and rich text. It was integrated with more Apple products like iCloud over the years during software updates via OS X 10.0, OS X 10.4, OS X 10.7 and macOS Big Sur. TXT for Chrome OS is a newer notepad release in 2011 as part of Chrome OS. The main goal of this notepad was to be super lightweight and hand simple text editing. Over time, it gained support for Google Drive and is still very simple today. While all three of these notepads offer a relatively simple interface, they are limited to their respective operating systems and are software that have to be downloaded. They're not accessible via the web or cross platform.
While software notepads are easy to use, online notepads offer several advantages for users like accessibility on any device or browser, no need to download software to your device and the ability to easy share txt via a unique url. Having the ability to keep notes within a text document, then accessing that text document on a different device or browser is a key benefit of an online notepad. Also, downloading software to your device is inherently limiting because the software cannot be used on any other device. Finally, in order to share text online, a user can simple send or post the URL to their text document, instead of sharing a file. Any one with the URL can see your notes and provide feedback or share elsewhere.
